Join the Center for International Law and Policy (CILP) for a private screening of Fork Films’ The Trials of Spring.

The film follows the immediate aftermath of the fall of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt, specifically the story of Hend Nafea, an activist and protester who was sexually assaulted by the Egyptian military for speaking out against sexual and physical violence towards women. Hend challenged being sexually assaulted during her fight for democracy, helping expose how systematic sexual violence became a tactic of repressing legitimate protest.

Following the screening attendees will hear directly from Hend as well as Marie O’Reilly, a writer, researcher, and film producer exploring the nexus of gender, peace, and security.

Open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
